Thank you for visiting HEADMASTER. We specialise in engine repair, engine reconditioning, restoration, engine balancing and modification. We are able to help you in many ways, everything from advice about engine mechanical problems to solving those problems, helping you repair, restore or modify your existing engine, or even planning an engine project.

We specialise in all automotive petrol and light diesel engine applications, and on any day you visit we may be machining a near new cylinder head or a forty year old classic car engine, crack testing a crankshaft or dynamically balancing a high performance race engine.

HEADMASTER staff are friendly, helpful and experienced. We are long-time machinists, we've seen almost every imaginable automotive engine failure type, repair method and enhancement technique. Whether your problem is as simple as a blown head gasket or damaged thread repair, or as complex as a custom performance engine involving boring, stroking and head porting, we can help.

HEADMASTER Engine Reconditioners Ltd has a long history in the Wellington region, going way back to 1939 when Engine Reconditioners Ltd was founded by Atillia Borra. HEADMASTER incorporated Engine Reconditioners Ltd in the 1980's and also absorbed Motor Rebores (1962) Ltd in 1994. In 2006 we were fortunate to be able to include the engine and dynamic balancing service of Russ Clarke's into our range of services. We have been in our present location since 1988 and have been involved in many thousands of engine reconditioning, repair and machining projects, serving the Wellington and region motor trade and general public.

We are proud members of the Motor Trade Association and are the preferred machinists for many of Wellington citys' top professional automotive service outlets and franchise holders, including Toyota, Ford, Holden, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, and Honda.
